The gun control freaks are lying and people are dying. Is it time to pull our citizens out of Washington, DC?

Consider that there has been an average of 160,000 troops in the Iraq theater of operations during the last 22 months, and a total of 2112 deaths. That gives a firearms death rate of 60 per 100,000. The firearms death rate in Washington D.C. is 80.6 per 100,000 for the same period. That means that you are about 25% more likely to be shot and killed in the U.S.Capitol, which has some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation, than you are in Iraq.

What is the lie to which I am referring? The lie is that the more gun control we have the safer the citizens are. The lie is that if citizens don't have guns, crime will go down. The TRUTH is that the law abiding will follow the law and the criminals won't. That is why they are called criminals. Taking weapons out of the hands of honest citizens just makes them more vulnerable to the predators. The gun control freaks are lying and people are dying. Is it time to pull our citizens out of Washington, DC?
I don't disagree with you. But I pose this question in return.

Why, when Canada has nearly identical gun laws to our own, is their murder rate only 1.73 to 100,000 vs. ours at 5.64 per 100,000?

I think you're right - it's not gun laws. But I wish people on both sides of the issue could sit down and answer this question.

I personally think it's in our history (rugged individualism as opposed to a 'we're all in this together' attitude) and I think it was made worse by Prohibition (the development and strengthening of black markets and organized crime). Just my thought. The gun control freaks are lying and people are dying. Is it time to pull our citizens out of Washington, DC?
It has nothing to do with population density or racial differences.

Except Chris Rock of course, who'd have his clip full. :D He's such a girly man. Though, Arnie will still make his final Conan movie!
Chris Rock said that if we raise the cost of bullets to 10K a piece, no one would be shooting....and everyone can keep their guns.
You're preaching to the choir, I couldn't agree more!
About 30,000 to 40,000 people have been killed in Iraq since 2003, though not all those deaths were by guns.

Adjusting the figure to remove Iraqis distorts it, like adjusting the crib-death rate to remove children.
I have the same opinion. It isn't the gun control laws becase it is amazing how the criminal element can still get ther hands on guns.
it is time to take control of our contry the way you do that is write to your congressman senate state police to get the gun laws change. I am concern about it myself that all you can really do.
the gun nuts in this country, especially the NRA, want you to believe that ';guns don't kill, people kill';. right. and alcohol doesn't make you drunk, bartenders make you drunk. cars don't kill, dealerships kill';, ad naseum. what's wrong with registering guns? (sorry, you jack booted nazi NRA members, the government isn't going to come after all of you because you register a gun.) maybe we should eliminate the registration of cars too. big brother might take your SUV away from you.
The demographics of DC are the only reason for the high crime rate.
