Ummm....NO. 150 watt motor vs 3 watt rheostat! The rheostat would need to be able to handle 150 watts effeciently. You may be able to use a variable ceiling fan speed control for homes, they are designed for high wattage motors in ceiling fans.

Controlling a dc motor via rheostat?
I have 150 watt 12 volts dc motor. I would like to vary the speed via a rheostat. Will a 25 ohms 3 watt rheostat work?Controlling a dc motor via rheostat?
